How to Lead by Example

Actions still speak louder than words, particularly when your
philosophies and behavior motivate people to do their best work. Doing
otherwise only confuses staff and slows momentum.

Here are 10 useful strategies for modeling behavior that will
inspire your employees to work hard, maintain loyalty, and help your
company grow.

1) Lead with honesty. Promote an office environment of
truthfulness. Anything less than honest communication should not be
tolerated. Em… Continue

Dealing with Low Performers

You are the leader, whether you are a good one or not, you are in a position of leadership. Your team needs you to communicate a vision. They need to see you lead the charge. They need to see you passionate about their work. They need to see that you are committed to them and their success.

Do not lower the bar for low performers. Set the expectations high. Targets and objectives should be in sight but out of reach. Many leaders feel that they need to lower the g

Is Networking a Waste of Time?

Early in my career, I thought networking was for salespeople. I thought it was for people who just wanted to socialize. Make no mistake; there are plenty of networkers who are just looking for a good time and to make new friends. Power networkers have events all over town every night of the week. This is absolutely ridiculous and is not business networking. That is partying. You will also notice that you start running into the same people at all the networking events. This is when networkin

Make time for yourself.....

Study each of the following rules for making time and try to implement them in your own life:

Learn to say "No.'' Keep away from commitments that force you to spend time on low priority items. Be prepared to say, "I can't do this now.''

Banish low priority items unless you have completed all higher priority items for the day. The definition of low priority items is "they can wait.''

Build time into your schedule for interruptions, unforeseen problems, unscheduled events, etc. You can avoid ru… Continue

Don't Listen

One of the biggest problems with achieving our goals and dreams is other people. And us, listening to other people. Truth is, other people don’t understand our goals. All they see is the reality in front of them and not what is inside our mind as to the why. They don’t see our passion, drive and desire to fulfill and live our dreams. So why do we listen to them and not our own amazing minds? Why do we give their thoughts more power than our own?

Wilma Rudolph was the twentieth of 22 children. S… Continue

Throwing in the Towel

**Video Below**

What do you do when all hope seems lost? What do you do when every door you try to go through gets slammed shut? What do you do when everything that can go wrong does go wrong - and not just for one day, one week, or one month? When the downward spiral seems to go on indefinately, most people get extremely discouraged. They begin to doubt their purpose, their abilities, their destiny, or the mission/project at hand, They question if it's meant to b… Continue

Losing Sales

First you can't lose a sale that you didn't have. What sales people are really describing is 'not winning the sale'. You may say it's semantics: if you don't win then you must of lost. Okay, so maybe we should say that people are awarded the business like they do with public bids instead of calling it winning and losing. But this is not the point of this post. Winning not losing is the point of the blog.

Let's list the many way we describe losing sales:

* They got a better price from the curre… Continue

Fundamentals of Leadership

I just heard it again, "Why can't my boss be the kind of leader you just talked about?!" Many managers exempt themselves from leadership training opting to only send their employees. So here is what your employees want you to hear:

1. Personal Integrity. Managers think they're doing a special favor for an employee by deceiving or omitting influential data, and they may be, but they just showed that employee that they cannot be trusted. If they'll do that for you, you can bet they will do… Continue

Why People Get Fired

A poll conducted by USA Today ranked the top 3 reasons people get fired. Fully 70% of all employees terminated were let go for 'failure to get along with other people'. This was followed by a lack of productivity/performance and policy violations. 3 ways to make sure you're not one of the 70% below...

What kind of attitude do you have? I don't mean just when you're on the job either. I've found that anyone can fake it on the job until something unexpected happens and then they "blow up." I witn… Continue

#1 Way to Stop Complaining

We complain about our weight. We complain about our health. We complain about our finances. We complain about our kids. We complain about our boss. We complain about a lot of things so I'm going to give you a quick test. Before you complain the next time, ask yourself this question. If you answer "yes," then you are not allowed to complain about it. Here's the question: Are you permitting it? Are you permitting the weight gain by not taking corrective action? Are you permitting the debt t… Continue
